COVID and the Startup Rollercoaster

By David Hughes on Apr 23, 2020 9:16:46 AM

Life in a tech start-up is not like a timid teacup ride, it’s a wild and raging rollercoaster. In a flash, things can go from super fun & exciting to a bit scary and you think you might die – but it’s all part of the ride. When COVID-19 shut down the world and our customers (kind of like the sudden drop and corkscrew that nobody saw coming) we had to take a breath and consider what kind of opportunity this 'downtime' would give us.

A customer is not simply a passive bottom line to business, they are an active partner in a relationship that is generated over time. This relationship is built through repeated, consistent interactions in which the customer will begin to develop a number of characteristics, perhaps the most important of these – commitment and interdependence. Understanding that customers are an organic marketing opportunity, building a successful brand relationship both reinforces this opportunity and creates new avenues of marketing.

By Josh Greet on Jul 30, 2019 11:00:00 AM

When developing marketing strategies and evaluating your businesses branding, it is often easy to treat the customer as a ‘target’. The finish line at the end of elaborate marketing/sales campaigns, simply there to absorb information and purchase your product. Falling into this approach in the age of social media squanders what is now one of your greatest ongoing marketing opportunities, an engaged, happy customer.
